The Namibian lottery framework was put in place in the mid-2000s, with legislation providing for a Lotteries Board and the eventual launch of a National Lottery. The Lotteries Board, under the auspices of the Directorate of Tourism, administers the National Lottery Trust Fund and the Social Upliftment Fund, with lottery revenues earmarked to support social and community development projects.
